What a summer to remember! During my internship at Purple Tie (the staffing company associated with the event planning/ catering company, Ridgewells), I have learned so much! Within about eight weeks, I have worked events at the DC Convention Center, the Library of Congress (along with many other DC landmarks), private estates, the US Open, and many other venues.

One of the events at the Convention Center, AIPAC, consisted of over 800 staff serving thousands of people including President Obama and two thirds of Congress.

Additionally, the 2011 US Open was an amazing experience! For two weeks I practically lived at Congressional Country Club (I had about 90 hours for the Pre-US Open week and over 100 hours the week of the US Open).

The day after the US Open ended I went to Baltimore for the 2011 PCMA Education Conference, per a scholarship given to three students; it was the best conference I have ever attended. The educations were great, the networking opportunities were endless, tons of fun (including a free U2 concert); I am certainly interested in attending again.

Tomorrow is my last day of work; within 8 weeks I have worked over 550 hours (averaging about 70 hours a week). In less than 2 weeks I will be in Australia studying abroad, which I still can't believe! I am incredibly excited; I will be living in the International House dorm on campus with students from all over the world! My parents will be out here next week, so I will be able to see them for a few days before leaving. I will also be starting my blog tomorrow for the Study Abroad office.
