Dear Students,

I want to extend to each of you a very warm welcome to the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. Our program is consistently ranked in the top ten hospitality programs in the country and we work very hard to continue to develop and improve our reputation in the industry. I am excited that all of you are now part of this amazing family. I want you to know that I am here to assist you in the successful completion of our internship program and reaching your personal goals in the hospitality and tourism industries.

During your time with us you will complete a practicum and an internship in the hospitality and tourism industries. We will prepare you academically to be successful and will count on you to take the necessary steps, to make yourself successful as well.

There are many helpful documents on the Internship website. Some other suggestions for your success include:

1. Get to know the professors in the HRTM department. They are here to help and you should know them all.
2. Get to know your fellow students. These are the people you will be working with during the course of your career.
3. Get engaged in your education by participating in department activities, the community, guest speaker series, volunteer opportunities, career fairs (even if you are a freshman!) and participating in the many clubs the HRTM department has (CMAA, PCMA, Eta Sigma Delta, NSMH, etc.).

Again, I want you to know that I am dedicated to your success, as are the other professors in the department. My office is located in room 1011-A. Come by and visit with me so we can discuss your future. I look forward to working with each and every one of you and I am excited to meet you all.
