Degang Wang

Degang Wang is a professor specializing in the area of the tourism development, tourism culture and the policy of tourism industry with Management School, Shandong University, China. Professor Wang serves as Chinese counterpart expert to the World Tourism Organization. He is a member of Shandong Governor’s Tourism Council and an invited professor at many of China’s universities. He also serves on the Board of Urban Planning Council of Shandong Province and the editorial boards of some Journals of tourism study in China.

He is the author of more than 20 books related to tourism and the author and co-author of more than 60 refereed papers published in scholarly journals and proceedings of international conferences. He conducted more than 80 tourism master plans throughout China, including ecotourism master plan for the canyon of Mountain Qomolangma. Currently, his research expertise includes rural tourism, industry tourism and community tourism. In recent years, he has developed a couple of pilot rural tourism destinations based on common benefits of all the stakeholders (from 2002 up to now).
