Get ready to shake your tail feathers in a tartan! The University of South Carolina is getting its very own tartan plaid.

The university will be unveiling its official USC Tartan design soon. Keep checking this page to find out what USC Tartan merchandise will be available for purchase. It could be Gamecock pajamas. Could be new plaid USC bow ties. Maybe even a new garnet and black tartan blanket. Stay tuned to find out!

The USC Tartan Apparel Project is a collaboration between the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management and the clothing company Collegiate Tartan Apparel to design and market a distinctive plaid pattern to be used on university merchandise. Operations will be overseen by the university's Center for Retailing with leadership from students enrolled in retail management and fashion merchandising courses at USC, in conjunction with the USC Office of Trademark and Licensing.

The approved USC tartan will go through the official registration process with the Scottish Register of Tartans in Edinburgh, Scotland. Currently, only 17 other U.S. universities have registered school tartans.
