Biography
Professor Berry received his MBA from Winthrop University in 1996 were he began his teaching career as assistant professor of Management. While at Winthrop he taught courses in Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Management. Berry joined the faculty in the Retailing Department in 1997 as an instructor. He has served as assistant department chair, internship coordinator, student advisor and on several department committees.
Berry initiated the SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) team at USC and served as the “Sam Walton Free Enterprise Fellow”. The SIFE team won the “rookie award” and “first runner-up” during their first completion (2001). The team was a regional winner in 2003 and 2004, allowing them to compete in national competition in Kansas City.
Prior to teaching Berry worked thirty years in the retail furniture, appliance, electronics, tire and battery businesses; three years as a manufactory’s sales representative for the Chrysler Corporation. Berry is the founder of Berry’s Furniture and served as its president from 1973 until 1994. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Southern Home Furnishing Association and the Retail Furniture Advisory Board for the Atlanta Market Center.
