HRSM students have the
opportunity to study for one or two semesters at a Chinese
university structured much like the Hospitality,
Restaurant, and Tourism Management program here at USC. All HRSM
students are eligible. Currently, up to six students annually
will be awarded with a $1,500 stipend to study at IFT.
Macao Selling Points
- Study Abroad in Macao,
China, for a semester for less money than if you stayed in
Columbia
- Learn Chinese culture in a
Western-friendly, English-speaking city
- Meet people from all over
the world – many of the professors and students are from
Europe
- Travel to many nearby
countries – budget airlines offer RT airfares for as little
as $50 to places like Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines,
Malaysia, and Singapore
About the exchange:
- $1,500 stipends will be
offered to six students who are selected for the program
during the 2008-2009 school year.
- You pay regular tuition to
USC – in other words, your tuition expense is no different
than if you stayed in Columbia. Any scholarship or financial
aid that you get at USC can be applied towards studying in
Macao.
- You take courses that can be
applied to your USC program. Your advisors can help you
arrange a program of study in Macao that will keep you on
track to graduate at the same time.
- Internships are available if
you desire in Macao after one semester of study.
- You can apply for Fall or
Spring Semesters. Beginning and ending dates for each
semester are slightly different than those at USC – please
inquire for additional information.
About IFT (Institute for
Tourism Studies):
- All classes are in English
- Professors and instructors
come from many countries
- IFT offers a program quite
similar to the HRTM program in our college. Also, there are
a variety of marketing, management, and language courses.
All HRSM majors could find classes to match their programs
at USC.
- Class facilities are modern
and well equipped

tourist destinations in China and Asia

site with many well preserved Chinese and Portuguese
buildings
