Dr. Peter Cardon received his Ph.D. at Utah State University in
2005, primarily focusing on intercultural communication. He
completed an MBA at Utah State University in 1997 and a B.A. in
International Relations in 1996 at Brigham Young University.
Before Cardon completed his doctoral degree, he worked in
management for several companies. In his most recent management
position, he acted as international marketing director for a
tour company that marketed travel tours throughout the Western
United States. He worked with agents and clients in more than 50
countries and, in particular, targeted tourists from three major
markets: Japan, Taiwan, and Brazil.
His primary research interests deal with intercultural
communication. He is particularly interested in China and has
conducted the majority of his research there. He has taken three
year-long work assignments in China: Taiwan in 1992, Hong Kong
in 1997, and Jilin in 2002. In addition to three years of
working abroad in China, he has worked in traveled in more than
35 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
Dr. Cardon teaches courses in
business communication, intercultural communication,
spreadsheets and databases, and social and cultural issues in
tourism. He is also Director of International Exchanges for the
College of Hospitality, Retail, and Sport Management.
