Carolina Day at the Statehouse Returns Wednesday, March 30, 2011
Alumni, faculty, staff and supporters of the University of South Carolina will march to the Statehouse once again on Wednesday, March 30 for the annual Carolina Day at the Statehouse. Participants in the event attend each year to meet with legislators to advocate for support of public education. The annual Carolina Day at the Statehouse is sponsored by the Carolina Alumni Association's Carolina Action Network (CAN).
CAN advocates make up a network of volunteers who work together to increase awareness of legislative issues affecting the state colleges and universities. Advocates communicate with their elected officials in various ways throughout the year, including the annual event in March.
Tentative Agenda
- 9:00 a.m. Registration at the Capital City Club
- 9:30 Advocate briefing
- 10:00 Visit elected officials at the State House and Senate offices
- 12:00 p.m. Luncheon and remarks by University President Harris Pastides at the Capital City Club
Those wishing to participate should register by March 23.
There is a $15 registration fee to defray the cost of lunch.

Dean's Executive Lecture Series on February 17th, 2:00 p.m. at the
Russell House Theater.
Mr. Tisch is Co-chairman of the Board for the Loews Corporation, Chairman Emeritus of the United States Travel Association, and a renowned author. He has three best-selling books: The Power of We: Succeeding Through Partnerships; Chocolates on the Pillow Aren't Enough: Reinventing the Customer Experience; and Citizen You:
Doing Your Part to Change the World.
Mr. Tisch also serves as Treasurer for the New York Giants,
