Kristy McPherson, a 2003 USC graduate, credits the university with not only providing a great education, but also impacting her athletic career. An LPGA golfer since 2007, Kristy travels around the world doing not only what she does best, but also what she loves. “After leaving USC I was not ready to stop playing golf, so I made it my career,” she explains. “It’s not a bad way to make a living!”

Kristy graduated from the College of HRSM with a degree in Sport and Entertainment Management. During her time at USC, she played women’s golf and won multiple awards and honors. Of all her achievements, Kristy says, “I am most proud of when we won the SEC Championship at USC in 2002.”

The South Carolina native was attracted to the College of HRSM because of her natural love for sports. While some of her sports classes were difficult, Kristy cites them as helpful in preparing her for her future career. “The program taught me more about sponsorship aspects,” she explains. Kristy is now sponsored by several companies, including Callaway Golf, Loft 8 and Trionz.

Of her time in college, Kristy says, “USC has been a huge part of my life and leading me into my career.” She also encourages other students to follow her hard-working lead. “Hard work pays off!” she says.
