Alumni Society Scholarship Fund

For many students, the life-changing educational opportunities of study abroad are but a dream due to limited financial resources. The Alumni Society of the College of HRSM is answering this need with the Alumni Society Fund. The fund provides scholarships and awards to worthy students who are interested in study abroad, Maymester course destinations and industry conferences.

Catherine Simpson, SPTE ’07, is now the Assistant Box Office Manager for the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.

Jennifer Kovacs, HRTM ’94, is currently the General Manager for Newport Hospitality at the Hampton Inn in Savannah, GA.

Carrie Johnson, TSTM ’92, is currently working as the Finance Director for the City of Orangeburg.

Dustin Barinka, TSTM ’10, is now the Territory A Manager for Hormel Foods.

Dylan Burton, SPTE ’11, is now the Concessions Manager for Ovations Food Services.

Benjamin Waring, SPTE ’08, is now the Assistant Athletics Communications Director at Old Dominion University.

Laura Bradstreet, MSPTE ’09, is now a Convention Services Manager for Global Spectrum.

Phil Carpenter, SPTE ’09, is now working for Global Spectrum as an Assistant Operations Managers at Liacouras Center at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.

Jacob Schwimmer, HRTM ’01, is currently the Restaurant Manager at Everest Restaurant in Chicago, IL.

Kevin Albertini, HRTM ’09, is currently the Food & Beverage Manager at the Baltimore Country Club in Baltimore, Maryland.

Ryan Alpert, SPTE ’11, is currently the Assistant Director of Development for the Athletic Department at the University of Memphis.

Meghan Bartlett, SPTE ’08, is currently working as an Executive Assistant at Under Armour in Baltimore, MD.

Adam Berrios, SPTE ’10, is currently working for the Alpharetta Convention & Visitors Bureau as the Group Sales Manager.

Eryn Flanagan, HRTM ’11, is now the Regional Sales Manager for the Southern Southeast Sales Team for the Marriot International in Atlanta, GA.

Jordan Tencer, SPTE ’09, is currently working for Live Nation as the Sponsorship Coordinator for the Mid Atlantic Network.

Megan Tuell, SPTE ’11, is now working for the Durham Performing Arts Center as the President’s Club Coordinator.

Bryan Burgin, HRTM ’86, married his partner Michael Watson, on July 22, 2011 in Washington D.C.

Liesl DeVito, Retailing ’09, is currently working as a Junior Merchandiser for Juicy Couture in New York, NY.

 

 

Emily Rourk, MHRTM ’05, married Edward Gibbs on October 29, 2011 in Elloree, South Carolina. She is currently the Assistant Director of Stewardship and Special Events for the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of South Carolina.

David Gerdy, SPTE ’07, is now the Operations Manager for the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Nikki Loescher, SPTE ’11, is currently a Coordinator for Event Marketing and Sales for Feld Entertainment.

Lisa Jenkins, HRSM ’92, has joined Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) as a Business Case Analyst/Technical Writer in Washington DC. She will be supporting the US Department of Homeland Security – US Citizenship and Immigration Services. She is also working on her Doctorate in Computer Science – Enterprise Information Systems at Colorado Technical University.

Lauren Allio, SPTE ’09, has joined the Charleston RiverDogs as director of community relations. Previously, she was assistant guest relations coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.

Alison Kuntz, SPTE and HRTM ’11, is now the Events Assistant and Hostess at Cork Restaurant.

Stacy Gregg, BAIS ’06, was recently honored by the South Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing Officials, Inc. (SCAGPO). Of the five awards presented at that annual banquet, she received the Bland Distinguished Service Award for her service to the organization, her employer and her community.  She also received the President's Outstanding Service Award for her contribution to SCAGPO.

Alan Kane, SPTE ’11, has accepted a job as the Events Manager for the Professional Disc Golf Association.
