Marcus Williamson
Sport and Entertainment Management Major
Class of 2008

Marcus Williamson, a senior Sport and Entertainment Management major, recently completed an internship with the Atlanta Falcons. He began working in the Falcons retail department during training camp and stayed on until the last game of the season.

“During the summer I helped with counting the inventory, along with early stocking of the stands. I also helped with the Falcons training camp. As one can expect, we had a lot of inventory and being able to start from the ground up really helped me see the whole picture of how NFL teams do their in-house merchandising,” said Marcus.

His responsibilities ranged from assembling the game day activities to supervising the junior achievement volunteers. Marcus also helped coordinate, along with the other interns, effective ways to finish the Falcons 365 Merchandise tent every game day.

Marcus credits all of his classes for helping him in some way with his internship. However, he says the facility management course he took under Dr. Mahoney inspired him to possibly manage his own facility one day. He says that all of his professors have been beneficial in some way or another and is not possible to pick just one favorite professor.

“The advice I would give to students is to learn as much as you can from your professors and try not to limit yourself only to classroom time. It is all about contacts within the major, and your first contacts are right in the Sport and Entertainment Management office,” says Marcus.

After graduation, Marcus plans to pursue his Master’s and Doctorate degrees.
