Manuscript Acceptance

Manuscript acceptance is based on the originality and quality of the research, significance to the venue management profession, and adherence to the prescribed submission requirements.

Manuscript Format and Style

The manuscript must be written in English using an 8.5-by-11-inch page, 1-inch margins on all sides, and employing the style presented in the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association in preparing all text and illustrations.  Manuscripts should be double-spaced using an easily readable 12-point font.  Each page must be consecutively numbered starting with the title sheet.  Author names, affiliations, or contact information should not be listed on the manuscript.  Provide this information in an accompanying cover letter.  Footnotes or endnotes should not be used.  Manuscripts must be saved in Microsoft Word.

Manuscript Submission

  • Manuscripts may be submitted on a 3.5-inch disk or by e-mail attachment. If using a disk, the name of the corresponding author and the manuscript’s title must be clearly printed on the label.
  • E-mail submissions must be sent as attachments.  The words “Manuscript Submission” must be placed in the subject line of the e-mail.
  • All submissions must include a cover letter (which may be sent as e-mail text) that provides the title of the manuscript and gives the names, academic degrees, positions, and institutional affiliations of each author, as well as the corresponding author's mail address, telephone number, and e-mail address.

Acknowledgement of received manuscripts will be delivered via e-mail to the corresponding author.

Manuscript Content

Manuscript length is generally dependent upon the scope of the content.  However, it is recommended that submissions not exceed 5,000 words or 25 actual manuscript pages. Simple, straightforward writing—concise, logical, and clear—is best.  Authors are strongly encouraged to have colleagues review their manuscript prior to submission.

Abstracts: Include an abstract of 500 words or less.  In addition, provide key words appropriate for index purposes at the end of the abstract.

References and Illustrations: For reference and illustration citation style, follow the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.  Submit tables, charts, drawings, and graphs in one or more files separate from the text file.  Each should be prepared so it can be used as presented (or in a reduced size), numbered, and identified.   Within the manuscript, indicate the approximate location where each illustration should be placed.

Review Process: The editor reviews all manuscripts. Once the topic and style are deemed appropriate, manuscripts are then forwarded to at least two (generally three) reviewers with expertise in the topical area for their blind review.  In most instances, the initial review process takes from 6 to 12 weeks.  Following the review, each manuscript will be classified as either Accepted; Accepted with contingencies; Returned for resubmission and review following recommended changes; or, Rejected.

The Editor will initiate and receive all communications from reviewers and corresponding authors.

Publication
Manuscripts will be printed in the earliest appropriate and available issue following acceptance. Authors will receive one (1) complimentary copy of the issue in which their material appears.
