McCutchen House Buffet opens for Fall dining – August 30, 2012

Join the students of the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management as they prepare for another exciting and rewarding semester. The McCutchen House is open for the Fall Semester lunch dining Tuesday-Friday 11:30 am-1:30 pm, August 30-Dec.7, 2012. Private Dining, Cooking Classes, Wine Class and Thursdays at McCutchen are reservation only.

Alumni Society Career Night – October 1, 2012

The College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management will host its next HRSM Alumni Society Career Night for students on October 1, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriott Columbia Downtown at USC. Robert Brookshire (iIT), professor and past director, is now serving as an Associate Director of IT-oLogy. IT-oLogy is a nonprofit collaboration of businesses, academic institutions and organizations dedicated to growing the IT talent pipeline, fostering economic development and advancing the IT profession.

Jeffrey Campbell (RETL) presented at the International Food Marketing Research Symposium that took place in June in Philadelphia. His co-authored paper “Billion Dollar Baby: Local Foods and U.S. Grocery” was selected as Best Conference Paper.

Jason Carpenter has been named Acting Chair of the Department of Retailing.

Tena Crews has been named Acting Associate Dean of Academic Programs for the College of HRSM. 

Robin DiPietro (HRTM) presented a paper, two poster sessions, and two workshops at the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (CHRIE) Annual Conference in Providence, Rhode Island August 1-4, 2012.

Cathy Gustafson (HRTM) led nearly 70 USC student and alumni volunteers at the 2012 PGA Championship held on August 9-12 at The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island, S.C.

Rich Harrill has been named Acting Director of the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.

Simon Hudson (HRTM) was a keynote speaker at a pre-Olympic event conference in Belfast, UK on June 20-23, 2012. His topic was leveraging events with a special emphasis on the benefits to London of hosting this year’s Olympic Games.

Haylee Uecker Mercado (SPTE) has been selected for Venue Management School Class of 2013.

Karen Patten (iIT) has published a new book titled Information Technology for Small Business now available online and in hard copy.
